I really rate Hegyi the keeper, the goalkeeping coach at the club do as well. Barely seen him make a mistake, will only get stronger.Reminds me of Meslier at Leeds.
Longelo is a bit of a Musauku type, not really sure he is a defender or attacker. The defence looks good allround but I feel Longelo thinks he's more of an attacker but isn't strong with his crosses often enough. The sub Clayton seemed confident and much more decisive. He could start against Lyon.
Ashby could do with going on Bowen's farm over the summer, maybe Chesters too. Summer camp invite allround.

Only ever seen the U23 on the highlights but the player who has impressed me the most (didn't play against Leeds) is Pierre Ekwah

Re: U23s Live v Leeds
daveyg - interesting - thanks for that. I agree that Ashby looks like he's going to make it, and with Fredericks probably departing this summer, I'm looking forward to seeing more of him.

I have also been impressed by Longelo from what I have seen of him, but I wonder if he's playing in the wrong position. It seems to me he's not that much of a defender, but ought to be played as a left sided attacker - as you say, he's got goals in him. It's a position that is a weakness in the first team. One thing I am certain of is that he is nowhere near as one-footed as Cresswell, who has had a decent career despite this glaring weakness.

Coventry assuming he returns to be part of next season's squad is looking like the only one to progress through just now? But who knows? Moyes and the coaching team may not think so? He looks very good at the top end of Div 1 in a good, well organised team. He is sort of a Rice like figure for MK Dons and always first on the teamsheet apparently.

Ashby looks decent going forward and is pacey but defensively not ready and as you say needs more physicality.

Chesters probably the only other one, again as you mentioned, worth some minutes at the top level to see if he can step up. Hopefully see him in preseason.

Re: U23s Live v Leeds
Having watched this and other U23's I feel now several of the players are still a way off from stepping up for a while.
Maybe their chance has gone.
Perkins in particular is trying to hard to just score, his natural instinct has been over taken by his frustration in not scoring. To selfish atm. He needs a mentor like Sheringham to step up his progress. He has a lot of skill and will get there if he listens more.
Oko-Flex maybe an option has some pace, can find the net but may not adapt. Not sure his football brain is all there.Needs some minutes.
Alexe don't think we will ever know now. He could easily fit into a L1 team that is ambitious. But needed minutes during this campaign to seel a proper squad place.
Longelo, not really good enough with his decision making with his crosses. Not sure if that can be coached.Though does have a habit of scoring.
Ashby, gets in great positions and earnt two penalties.Needs to get some beef in his legs. The next step is deliveries like Trent-Arnold makes.Could quite possibly do that next season. He has a football brain. A far better bet than Fredericks
Chesters, has a lot of skill at this level. Can find the net too but a bit injury prone. Some minutes would help to see his progress and if his pace is at Pl level.
Swyer didn't really see much off him but not to me a prospect.
Nevers, simialr to Swyer, not the best decision making.
Forson, not sure about him, always seem to be in the right place with some great interceptions. His passing could be better after reclaming the ball. Not at Conor Coventry's level.
Greenidge, big lad and versatile.Need to see more.
Hegyi. Confident keeper and the best prospect out of all our young stoppers.Better all round than Trott and Anang.A loan spell next year at a good L1/L2 team will see him progress could easily be our no3 after half a decent season.highly rated.

A bit of a mention to Regan Clayton.Left back. Only on for 39 minutes but for a 17yr old. Had great balance, pace and could put the ball in the right spot.Looked as cool as one could be. Didn't look he has 2 left feet as Masuaku and Longelo do. Wpuld love to see more.
